Get granular.  Sure, I might know a ton about marketing; but I prefer to narrow in even more and label myself as a branding expert. When you dial in to your niche, you have a much better chance of standing out and drawing in new business. What specific results can I  deliver? Whether youre selling a product or a service, get clear on what youre exchanging with the customer. What exactly are they paying for? Know what kind of value you promise, and make sure you consistently deliver on this guarantee. What vibe do I want to create? While some brands like to harbor a relaxed atmosphere; others like to maintain a high dose of professionalism. Write down a few buzzwords that you want people to associate with your brand. Keep these in mind when coming up with your brand message and creating regular content. Ready for an example? My brand message is I teach women the art of captivation with my unique personal branding approach.  This statement reminds me that branding is my focus, women are my target, unique is my buzzword, and captivation is the end result. How to Have a Better Day This morning, I made my favorite breakfast: scrambled eggs, lightly wilted spinach and sautéed tomatoes. The way I really like my eggs is when they’re moist and fluffy and melt in your mouth. But I’m impatient and usually in a rush. Usually, I beat the eggs mercilessly. Then cook them in a super-hot pan with vegetable oil until they’re dead â€" as in hard and dry with no trace of liquid. But not today. Today, I took my time and followed my British friends’ instructions. I focused on getting each element right and put love and care into the process. The eggs took longer to cook, but they were delicious. (By the way, chef’s secret: start with a knob of butter on very low heat!) The other unusual thing I did was that I sat and ate without looking at my smartphone or reading something else. That added to the enjoyment. And something I didn’t expect was the feeling of calm. Like I could handle whatever comes my way. So, whether you’re expecting a hectic day ahead or you’ve had one already, stop the franticness. Store up your reserves of calm by calling a timeout to do something with love and care. It could be cooking, tending to your plants, playing with your pet, or something else you enjoy. Not only will you create a joyful experience for yourself (and your pet!), you’ll feel calmer and more prepared for whatever comes next. Stop the franticness. After: Demonstrated analytical skills and cultural sensitivity as leader of team conducting, coding and verifying 1000 patient interviews using SAS software. The original bullet point expects the reader to jump to the conclusion that the applicant analyzed data. Managing data collection may imply analysis, but it is best to be specific. The terms coding and verifying clarify additional explicit skills. The After bullet quantifies the size of the study and notes the applicants abilities regarding cultural sensitivity, which the writer knew from her research was something this company valued.
